How it started

Speedy's Story

In 1992 a colleague - on behalf of someone else with housing problems as a result of a divorce - was looking for a temporary place to stay for a cat. This is how Speedy, a seal point male neuter, came into our lives. For 13 weeks we didn't hear a thing from his mistress, but one day she suddenly appeared: she was now settled with her new partner so Speedy could return. Since we were pretty devoted to our Siamese Sword-toothed tiger it was hard to say good-bye. Without Speedy our house was empty, so empty that we decided we needed a new Siamese, or as a matter of fact rather two.

With the help of the kitten mediation of several clubs, we started our search. But due to the summer season there were barely kittens available, just an expensive litter with kinks in the tail. By way of a detour we discovered the address of Speedy's breeder. Unfortunately at that time Mrs Riet de Haan (Cattery Van Hamir) had no kittens. A while later she called us to say that one of her females was pregnant and we could have had our two Siamese from that litter. But you would not believe what happened: two months after we said good-bye to Speedy the same colleague asked us if we were interested in getting Speedy back forever. He had to go; his masters thought he was annoying: he needed attention! The same day we picked up Speedy and then back home it was just as if he never left.

With the arrival of Ninja and Kaya we now had suddenly three Siamese cats. Mrs De Haan brought us into contact with the cat fancy and after a while we applied for a cattery name and bred our first litter.
